Camera assessment
I thought this went alright considering I was quite worried about it a couple of days beforehand. This is the feedback which I sent Ray:
'It was clear that for me, time was the main issue. I think I can overcome this through practicing with the kit more as I was cabable of putting everything up and working. After a short tutorial in the kit room I felt more confident with working the lights and I was able to understand timecode, White balance and back focus. I intended to use a blonde as my key light, however there wasn't any available so I used a 1k instead. This was a better choice than the red as the key light is aimed to be brighter and more controlled. I had no real issues with the lights, however I think I had taken much too long setting up the sticks as I have a really bad habbit of putting them up and down the wrong way. I think I have improved since the last assessment, even if it is just the fact that I am more confident being hands on and less scared. All and all I think my assessment showed that I am capable of setting up a camera and basic 3 point lighting, however I have to leave time at the end to pack everything away as this is just asimportant when on a shoot.'
Those were the things I picked up on. Despite being a few minutes over the time I passed (yeey!), but I'm aware that when we start shooting very soon I'll have to work a lot faster. I'm really excited about the shoots coming up, especially our 'Home' project as it is a chance to conbine our creative ideas with our (if slightly limited) technical skills to finnally make a film! yey!
Kims Class
I really enjoyed the class this week. We put all our Corrination Street storyline ideas together and fought for the ones which would be the A B C and D stories. I have been increasingly surprised by how much work actually goes into just one single episode or one storyline. It's all very interesting.
A Virtual Revolution
For Adams class we had to watch 'Virtual Revolution', a documentary about the increasing use of the internet and how it can influence people. After doing so I went straight onto my facebook profile and changed just about all my settings to private in the fear that someone was stalking me. But I guess google is stalking everyone so I should just stop worrying as I'm in no more danger than anyone else.. I'm quite facinated about this new idea of combining the internet, or even online gaming, with film or television shows. A young audience would be especially enthusiastic. Imagine the excitement of your favorite character texting you during your favorite show? I don't know about anyone else but since Adams lesson this has been a concept which I havnt been able to keep off my mind.
Oh and I joined second life:

meet Lacy Czartza. I've always wanted to be Russian.
So yeah. Second life scares me. I know that it's kind of amazing that you get to talk to real people who aren't really real. But is that right? This wierdo started talking to me about how he needed to pee in real life. The he got all angry when I flew away from him. I was scared and lost control and the whole world started laughing at me. LITERALLY. I'm such a social outcast... but I'm really pretty so it's all good..
I'm all up for combining gaming with film making though. I got really into The Sims 3 *cough* geek *cough*. If you make an account online you can cut and edit your own movies with the footage taken from the game. People are making characters and putting them in different situations and putting it all together to create their own stories, thats directing, screenwriting and editing all at once. And it's all within the one game!
