Reflective blog

That means I'm rather enjoying myself here!

So it's the end of term 1. Where has the time gone? At school the time between the summer holidays and christmas seemed like years, but this year it feels like just a few weeks. Already we have learned so much, from how to work a camera to making new friends to revealing our deepest darkest secrets. It has all been really interesting.

There will be some changes next term with Richard gone on Monday mornings. I hope this doesn't make me, or anyone else less inspired to come up with ideas because sharing eachothers stories has been by far my favorite part of the course. I was really quite nervous before THEE post secret class, but felt slightly releaved after they were all read out.
I'll probably be yelled at my my fellow classmates for suggesting this but: can we do it again perhaps? no?

We have also had a couple of assessments, one with Ray on the camera and one with Gav with editing. I surprised myself with how I could actually set up a camera without breaking it/silently weeping. All I have to do now is practice.

On the other hand, I found the editing assessment quite tricky. Im not sure how I did, I could have passed well or it could easily have been an epic fail. I hope it's the first. It took me forever to look up answers which I could not remember learning. I guess that means that I have to take better notes an not just zone out. Zoneing out is baaaad!

I have especially liked watching all the silent films - being introduced to films I wouldn't usually watch is something I'll further look forward to next term. I'm not sure if it's because I believe you can tell a lot more about people when you don't feel the need to talk, or just because I'm a tiny little bit in love with The Downey, but I found the film Chaplin, and all of Chaplins films especially inspiring. I also like all the leading girls make-up. I tried to copy it, but I ended up looking like an owl. Next halloween guys...

Another thing I have discovered is that I don't watch enough TV!

I really should start watching more. I'm especially interested in Life On Mars as ,after watching the first episode, I immediatly wanted to watch the rest. Definately one to ask Santa for.
I've also watched my first ever episode of Corrination Street. Sadly, I'm not as hooked, but realise the importance of looking at a wide range of programmes.

Oh, I almost forgot about the adventures we have been having OUTSIDE the academy!

We all took a lovely trip to visit the oldest-surviving music-hall in the U.K., the Britannia Panopticon. I found it really interesting just being inside a room with so much history. I must say though, it was much easier to picture all the different goings-on in the music hall, what with all the entertainers and the old film screenings and the occasional midget being tossed (it's their birth right!). Although, it was sure a lot harder to imagine the smell of the place. Rotten veg anyone? no?

I personally think such reactions should be brought to the attention of Simon Cowel for his next X-factor-type creation. Britains got cabbage. Yum.

We also went on another ADVENTURE only this time it wasn't so usefull. Especially for someone who has no interest in football what so ever. Being more of a 'visual thinker' than a 'football watcher' I think it would be appropriate to mention that some pictures definately speak louder than words:

[175.JPG] Enough said.

So the past few weeks have been filled with films and friends and new experiences and secrets and assessments and Life on Mars, Skins and a loove for Lucy and electric chairs, cabbage and can-can and gameshows starring David Bowie (long story) and more stories and silence.. and soon to be Santa =]

Oh, and I'm team CHAPLIN by the way.
