Corrie

I've never cared much for this street. Or any other street for that matter.

http://blogs.coventrytelegraph.net/passtheremote/coronation_street1b.jpg ...and I still don't!

My mum and my younger sister sit down once a week and watch every episode of Coronation Street back to back until they have sufficiantly caught up on whats going on in 'the nations favorite street'. I therefore told myself that it can't be that bad. It was like watching paint dry. Beige paint. In a maths classroom. Yawn...

It felt extremely unnatural settling down to watch Corrie with them, a cup of tea in hand for mum and Mish, a notepad and pen for Lucy!

But dispite it's dull factor, I did manage to pick up the major storylines reletavly easily. This was what I managed to pick up:

The first storyline this episode deals with evolves around a little boy (Simon) and his dad's (Peter) struggle as a recovering alcoholic. Peter wants to go into business with Simons grandfather to set up a bar together, however, his own father (Ken) dissaproves due to his health.

We also meet a ginger girl, I didn't catch her name, and her friend Becky. Both seem like best friends and the type of people an audience could relate to. Both are attending drama lessons, however they soon become aggrivated by eachother after an argument over who would be Cinderella if they were to cast themselves in a Pantomime. Or I think it was Cinderella they were talking about. Their 'dissagreement' soon turns into a full-blown fight - something which would be very out of place if it were to happen in reality. It's not like I'm planning in watching Corrie again, but I'm guessing that they will make up somewhere in the space between the end of this episode and the beginning of the next, but thats just a guess!

Dev, the shopkeeper, isn't funny.

Also, golf isn't that funny either.

When Dev leaves his shop to go and play golf, the first thing the shop assistance does is invite round an older man of which she is having an affair with. Now thats funny.

Seriously though, I think that the 'affair' storyline was the only part of the episode which I honestly cared about. I think this was because it tied into the boyfriends personal life - he has a wife and two rebellious teenage daughters to worry about - and despite this is being pressurised to leave them for another woman who I've been told would not usually do such a thing.

So that was my experience of Corrie.

No. I don't want to experience the wonders of Eastenders either.

Hollyoaks Later I can deal with though...
