Creative Beginnings

I have just completed my first few weeks at the RSAMD which meant I got the chance to take part in a project along with the rest of the first years. During this time we investigated what culure meant to each of us, as well as what we can bring to the academy throughout the next few years.

The first two days I found slightly tedious, discussing in groups different scottish-themed items, our group ended up talking about shortbread for what felt like an unnatural amount of time, before discussing items which each of us thought defined our own culture. All I could really offer was my dads Johnny Cash CD, which I guess is something which I associate with the comfort of being at home.

The last day, however, left me feeling quite inspired and excited about getting to work on my course. I was interested to see what picture everyone had prepared under the theme of 'THIS IS WHERE IM COMING FROM' and the progression into another picture stating: 'THIS IS WHERE I AM NOW'. It was interesting to see everybodies hopes, worries and unanswered questions, and it was a relief to see that everybodies anzietys were very similar to my own.

Yea I know, my cat is such a supermodel. Strike that pose Tina!

Finally, we were asked to write a letter to ourselfs. I wrote something motivational about working hard to achieve my goals, which sounds slightly cringy, but I'm sure when I read it back at graduation I'll be as moved as I was the day it was written, which was quite a fair amount.
