some more time to reflect..

I feel like we have done lots recently, from having a class with Kim to working with TPA and of course, the return of Richard. These oppertunities and classes were all very different but all extremely beneficial.

We have only had one class with Kim which I did find interesting. It was a great oppertunity to learn from someone who is currently working in the industry at the moment. I have always considered being a writer for television, and having had a class with Kim we now know more about the role of a storyliner - a route I haven't really considered before. It made me aware that I should keep my options open.

We also worked alongside the TPA first years to video a show which they had designed for the band, The Bumclocks. (which my dad knows. Cringe!) This was a useful experience and, dispite being slightly unsure of what I was doing sometimes, being our first real experience and all, I felt like the whole thing went quite well. It was interesting to see what everyones roles were and I hope to work with them all again. I also felt that when there was anything I was stuck on or if I needed help I wasn't afraid to ask one of my classmates for guidence. I personally think that I learn better this way, and it's good that we can work in an environment where we are comfortable enough to all help eachother.

I have really enjoyed our three days with Richard. We were asked to write a script which, I realise now, was pretty rubbish! However, I fully understand now why it wasn't amasing which I think was the whole point of us all writing scripts before our three day session. It was alot to take in but I found the lessons really interesting. Especially about how to visually tell a story successfully and how different characters can change the dynamic of the film. I liked guessing things about people we had never seen before purely based on one picture of them. Pants game anyone?

This mornings class was one of my favorites as we had the opertunity to open up again and tell eachother the things we dislike about ourselves. The fact that we all related to eachother was not only helpful to me personally, but it also shows how every character we write should have a fatal flaw which the audience should want them to overcome in order for a character to be relatable and interesting to watch.
